What caught our attention at CES 2013

CES-2012

There were enough gadgets announced at CES this year to give me a seizure and now that the show is over and I had time to let all the announcements settle in my brain these are the ones to me that stood out.

Panasonic A100

Broadcast live video via WiFi streaming to Ustream while it simultaneously records HD video? Yes please! I will wear this around my neck like a rapper wears gold. File under want badly.

Panasonic 4K Tablet

Holy smokes a 4K Tablet! While shown in prototype form this could be one awesome tablet if unleashed into the wild. Imagine shooting wirelessly with the GH3 to this sweet tablet. We got our eagle eye on this bad boy.

Fuji X100S

Fuji’s popular X100 promises faster AF and better video plus the x-Trans sensor made this camera stand out to us.

Olympus Tough TG2

The TG-2 brings with it some notable improvements over the TG-1 including increasing waterproof depths to 15m (50ft, 10ft more than the TG-1). The rugged look is much more than design cues too; as you can expect from Olympus’s flagship Tough camera, the TG-2 can withstand being dropped from 6.6ft, being frozen to as low as 14-degrees (F), and avoids being crushed up to 220lbs. Read more on SCBP

Samsung NX300

Samsung has really been making some strides in their mirror-less lens camera line up these days. Last year brought an interesting line up with the NX1000 and NX20 this year we’re seeing a big step forward in the connected “smart” cameras with the all new NX300. Read more on SCBP

Pentax MX-1

Pentax has a really neat little camera here with retro flair in the MX-1. Like vintage cameras it’s made with a brass top plate which will over time show through providing you keep it long enough. I think if the MX-1 had a larger chip it would be a knock out. Still though a sold offering from Pentax.

Pentax Custom Q

Another unique camera from Pentax, the tiny Q-10 can now be built to order in over 100 different combinations. Very cool lifestyle camera.
