The Olympus 75mm f/1.8 – first look

If you’ve recently purchased a micro four-thirds camera; welcome! It’s compact size and very un-compact image quality means you can do everything from snapshots for Instagram (aka “Oh look, my lunch #nofilter”) to far more professional endeavors. But if you’re looking to transition into the latter group, then your kit lens just will not do.

Recently Olympus announced their newest 75mm f/1.8 Micro Zuiko lens and it’s been probably one of the hottest lenses released on any system this year. No need taking my word for it though, check out some of photographer, Jordan Steele’s first impression shots.

If you’re looking for a sharp lens, it doesn’t get sharper than this.

The sharp detail and creamy bokeh are a photographers dream to say the least, it’s a powerful piece of glass that can be incorporated into your toolkit for everything from street photography to nature shots. From Steele’s first shots with the Olympus  75mm f/1.8 lens, portraits are stunning though require factoring the minimum distance required to get the desired effect. All in all, this is one piece of glass we’d love to take for a test drive.

Head over to Steele’s blog to see more pictures taken with the Olympus 75mm lens.

    Can’t decide between this 75mm f/1.8, and the 45mm f/1.8 for my OM-D.
