Stock Alert – WiFi SD

transcend 16gig wifi

Heads up. My favorite SD cards is now in stock on Amazon for about half that of the Ey-Fi version. This particular card has been the fastest I’ve tested and the easiest to set up and use.

l’ll be covering all the WiFi cards in a round up on SCBP soon but as you might have guessed I’m quite fond of this one and can recommend it 100%. So far it has worked with my OMD, EPL5, Pen Mini, Lumix G5 and GH3 (which has built in WiFi)

I can see you had some responses @ DPreview to this quesiton, (http://forums.dpreview.com/forums/thread/3366283?) but does this card work as smoothly as Eye-fi? i am going on a trip, and am trying to decide between the two before i leave (next weekend) for my OMD.

For me the Transcend has been the fastest and most reliable of all my WiFi cards across all my cameras. My Eye-Fi has some cool features but it will crash at least once per shoot so I had to stop using it.

One more thing I wanted to mention. In my testing only the Eye-Fi allows you to download as you shoot to your mobile device. The Transcend you download after you shoot. I found that I prefer the latter since it saves on battery life.

I have this card, but it does not show my videos, just my jpegs. I’m using a g5. Do you know how to get it to show the videos? Thanks

Do you mean you can’t play back the videos from the card on your camera or you can’t transfer videos from the card to your mobile device?

You mentioned you got the Transcend card to work in your OMD (I assume you mean an E-M 5?) and I would like to ask how you did that. I ordered a Transcend card on the strength of your statement, and I can NOT get it to work in my E-M 5.

I’ve followed instructions in the Quick Setup guide to enable direct-transfer mode, but the WiFi network never became available to join in my device.

I know the card itself works (or did work; see below) because I then put it into a Lumix LX7 and it did work correctly. I just can’t get it to work in the E-M 5. Any advice?

PS — Actually, I can’t get it to work in ANYTHING at the moment, because I accidentally reformatted it! As you know, the way you control the card is to locate and delete one of three “magic pictures” that allow you to enable direct transfer, enable connection to a WiFi network, or reset the default settings. But now my “magic pictures” are erased and there seems to be no way to get them back! If you thought setting up an Eye-Fi card was janky, this really takes the cake! Do you know any way to recover from this? Transcend’s website is utterly useless…

J.L. I did mean the E-M5. I wonder why mine seems to work so easy? Sorry that you’re having such a hard time with it that really stinks.

I use the card the same with all my cameras except the GH3 which has WiFi built in.

Is the Eye Fi option in the OMD turned off?

The pictures regenerate even after you format the card. Sometimes I’ve noticed that it can take a few minutes but like I said above once I set up the card to shoot to my Galaxy S3 everything worked OK.

I did download a full manual from the Transcend site. It might help you out if you get it but you might consider reaching out to Transcend support at this point.

      Sorry you’re having such issues.
