Rode VideoMic Pro vs Panasonic DMW MS2

Excellent post by +Dave Dugdale compairing the Rode VideoMic Pro vs Panasonic MS2.

Audio is such a challenge for imaging professionals yet its the one element that could make or break the impact of your video.

If you have a solid yet simple workflow for audio I'd love to hear about it.

Nice to have a shotgun mic with a stereo option!

I use the DMW-MS2 for run & gun scenerios. I used the JuicedLink RM222 and the AT875 short shogun mic when I have time to control my audio or if I need to tap into a board or multbox. Getting great audio into a GH3/GH4 is much easier than a Canon DSLR. Being a true hybrid I dont have to ” wrestle” with the audio on the Lumix’s like I did with the EOS

The problem with the Panasonic is that it does not have shock isolation like the Rode. It picks up camera handling noises with the tests that I did.

@ halfmac, if you move the mic off the camera’s hotshoe the handling noise all but disappears…..
