The Panasonic GH3 with vertical shutter grip

We here at SmallCameraBigPicture truly believe that mirror-less cameras are not just a passing fad but a trend that will dictate where photography is going. Though many skeptics are not convinced by the smaller bodies and retro styling, the Panasonic GH3 is looking more and more like a “serious” piece of kit.

One of the first things that jumps at you the first time you hold the GH3 is that the rubberized grip feels natural. Though my initial assumption was that the grip would be too large for a camera that size (keep in mind that this camera is about half the size of a 35mm frame shooter), it ultimately feels just right in the hand – and more substantial than the grip nubs found on other mirror-less cameras. The vertical shutter grip accessory adds both some battery life and a fuller feel to the camera without weighing it down. We only were able to spend just a few minutes with the GH3; dear Panasonic – we need LOTS more time with this one (for science of course).

Below is a sample of the image delivered by the GH3.

We look forward to brining you a much more thorough review in the near future.

nice blog site look forward to hearing your thoughts on GH3. I am looking to buy one when available. I presently shoot with a GH2 and love it. I originally was going to get a FF, but am so happy with M43 that I am forgoing that route and sticking with M43 even for paid gigs.
