OMD E-M5 firmware 2.0 Released

Olympus has released firmware version 2.0 yesterday.

You can update your firmware on Olympus cameras and lenses by using the Olympus Digital Camera Updater. The updater also works on Panasonic lenses when connected using an Olympus body.

Version 2.0 updates:

  • Small AF target added to the AF target settings.
  • ISO LOW (100 equivalent) expanded on the low sensitivity side.

Future updates:

Olympus is also planning on doing a future firmware update to add focus peaking to the OMD EM5!

I updated the body with the firmware 2.0 with my 45mm lens attached. Now the body is not even reading the lens. Can you help or know of any way to get the body to recognize the lens? I attached my 17mm and that works fine. Been on the google hunt to find a solution and hopefully you can help.

That is an odd problem but it doesn’t look like you’re alone. I found someone else that had a similar problem after updating but it was on his Lumix 12-35mm lens. It doesn’t look like he’s found a solution yet and I don’t have one for you either. Do you have other bodies you can try the lens on? Does the Olympus camera updater recognize the lens on the camera? Only thing I can think of to try is resetting your camera to default settings.

Hi Paula – I am having Olympus OM-D EM-5 with 12-50mm kit lens. This works fine. After that I bought panasonic 45-200 mm lens f4-5.6. I have updated my camera firmware to latest version (2.0).Inspite of this, when I fix my panasonic lens, blank screen shows up. Where can I see lens firmware version on camera? There is some joint update on olympus website for 45-200 mm lens but there are NO instructions on how to update the lens version. I dont know what else can be done here besides updating the software?? I called on olympus support, they say that it may be a lens issue and when you call panasonic, they say it may be a body issue. Not sure what to do? Any pointers would help.
