Thanks goes out to Andrew on G+ for sending me the link. I ordered the three pack for $34.99 delivered. Compare this to one OEM for $59 and you can see what a deal it is.

Of note, these are 1450mAh where as the OEM is 1250mAh. Get them while you can.

Interesting that though the photographs show the battery marked as 1450mAh the advert itself states 750mAh.

Good eye! Just contacted the seller. I’ll post their reply here.

Giulio, love your blog.  Can you recommend a good camera equipment store in the Miami area?

    • Giulio Sciorio May 2, 2012 at 2:15 pm #

Thank you! I wish I could recommend a good camera store in Miami but there are none. There’s one but its more like a camera museum the latest digital cameras they have are the Olympus e1 and maybe a Canon 40d and full retail prices as they were sold when launched.

Pitman Photo is good but they are a bit south of Miami in Kendal but if you’re looking for Olympus in Miami thats really tough.

Strange isn’t it? With Miami being one of the wealthiest cities in the world one would think you could find a good camera store here but nope. Maybe BH or Adorama will open a good store here some day.

      • David Pino October 13, 2012 at 6:59 pm #

I hope not… If adorama or BH opens her,e that means I have to pay tax on their purchases online :( lol. It would be nice to have a super center here, but honestly, I think most people shop online (which makes trying cameras a pain, but, free return shipping at many retailers anyways.)

          Good Point

          • Giulio Sciorio October 13, 2012 at 7:04 pm #

Good Point David but I don’t know if I would mind paying tax if the service was tops and if the store was more then just retail. Would be cool if a camera store could also be like a hangout, maybe have a cafe inside and also host classes too.

        • Giulio Sciorio October 13, 2012 at 7:06 pm #

Good point David but I wouldn’t mind paying taxes if the store had great service (lacking just about everywhere in Miami) and hosted cool classes.

Do you think the em5 battery indicator will work with these batteries?

    • Giulio Sciorio May 2, 2012 at 6:04 pm #

Good question. You must have read the Engadget review. I’m sure the battery indicator will work with the batteries as well as it does with the OEM batteries. I have zero issue with the indicator and can only assume that the reviewer had not gone through the camera properly read the manual which on page 92 states that you can “Choose the battery level at which the warning is displayed” meaning you can taylor how the meter works to your needs.

Thanks for checking out the blog.

      • AdrianQ May 2, 2012 at 7:03 pm #

I think Maybe Seven6000 might be referring to the issue some Panasonic MFT cameras have where the battery status doesn’t work with 3rd party batteries. Panasonic uses a custom chip to report battery status, but it’s probably also a way for them to discourage 3rd party batteries.

To my knowledge, Olympus hasn’t done this, but you likely won’t know these arrive.

        Thanks, Giulio– I just ordered a 3 pack! :)

        • owczi May 2, 2012 at 8:13 pm #

I had the same doubts after reading about people’s problems with DSTE batteries for the GH-2. Although the BLN-1 has two more pins than the BLS-1. Who knows… Ordered 3 just to give it a shot ;)

        • Giulio Sciorio May 2, 2012 at 10:58 pm #

Ah ok. Thanks for the input. I’ve not yet used a Panasonic M43 camera but I hear nothing but great things about it. The battery issue is new to me. I really hope Panasonic pushes harder in the states with their marketing and builds a better presence here.

Guess you weren’t reading my blog in Jan 2010? http://www.markfocus.blogspot.com/2010/01/beware-of-counterfeit-battery-packs.html

  6. Bggalb May 4, 2012 at 10:42 pm #

Well, I ordered these batterys. (two of them for $25 and change) and got the same message.  After a little back and forth with them, they will send me the charger for free.  They claim it will charge the OEM battery also.  I guess I will be the test dummy for this battery

    • Giulio Sciorio May 4, 2012 at 11:29 pm #

I’ll be right there with you. I’m keeping the three and the free charger. When I get them I’ll probably open one up out of curiosity and will post the photos. I have a feeling they will be fine. If not I’m willing to pay the price.

  7. Rick Baumhauer May 14, 2012 at 9:46 pm #

Good news (at least so far) – I received my three batteries and charger today. The charger does charge the OEM battery, and the batteries seem to work just fine in the camera. They seem to come pretty fully-charged, so I put the lens cap on, set it on Manual with a high shutter speed, and fired off several high-speed bursts (hundreds of photos altogether) until it dropped one bar from the meter, just to confirm that it wouldn’t read as full until suddenly dying.

I plan to keep the OEM battery in the body, and use the third-party batteries in the grip. My settings draw power from the grip first, so even if battery life is less than the OEM, it should roll to the OEM battery automatically, and I’ll have two spares for the grip, in any case.

    • Giulio Sciorio May 14, 2012 at 11:47 pm #

I got mine too. Put a video up on youtube and will be posting it here shortly. I won’t have much time to test this week but I will next week. :-)

  8. Nelson Silva June 24, 2012 at 7:04 am #

So what about these batteries…should I buy them or not!? LOL Do they charge with the original olympus charger or not? because in ebay they  say that the original charger can be used…

    • Giulio Sciorio June 24, 2012 at 2:55 pm #

      Hi Nelson,

The batteries are good but the ones I got will NOT charge in the olympus charger but the olympus brand battery will charge in the charger I got with the purchase.

Overall the batteries are good and I’m glad I got them. If the new batteries say they will charge with the Olympus charger then I can only assume they will but when in doubt talk to the seller to confirm and check their rating.

    • Montana_JIm October 3, 2012 at 4:42 am #

Yes, What is the verdict. Have the batteries worked out or not?

      • Giulio Sciorio October 8, 2012 at 2:21 pm #

So far so good. Been shooting with the batteries on several jobs and I can say that the ones I purchased are great.

  9. Arbib June 30, 2012 at 7:27 pm #

Please Note that these batteries MUST be charged by the available charger that the eBay seller sells in a kit with 1>3 batts, or separate. I would suggest you get at least one battery + Charger kit, Then, you can buy separate batteries at around $9-12 each. I have had no problems with my battery from them.
